You cannot compare and be grateful at the same time.

Hi SF fam,

As this year comes to a close, there’s a message pressing deeply on my heart.

As we step into this precious time of the year — a season that is all about Jesus — let’s be mindful of one thing:

Comparison.

Comparing our bodies to others.

Comparing our children.

Comparing our holidays.

Comparing our circumstances.

It’s so easy to fall into, especially with social media only one tap away.

I speak often about the power of gratitude, and here’s something I’ve learned over and over again:

You cannot compare and be grateful at the same time.

They simply cannot co-exist.

So my gentle encouragement as we enter this season of celebration?

Let’s disconnect from social media a little.

• Let’s slow down.

• Let’s pick up our journals.

• Let’s intentionally write down the things we are deeply grateful for.

“Thank You, Lord, for my body — that it is an instrument.

Thank You for my family.

Thank You that You sent Your Son.

Thank You, Jesus, that You show us how to live a life that honours You.”

As we reflect, here are some questions for your heart:

• What are you truly grateful for?

• Where has comparison been stealing joy?

• How can you unhurry this festive season and intentionally slow down?

• How can you shift your focus more onto Him… and less onto you?
