My go-to smoothie...
and why I love smoothies.
Dear Simply Flourish family,
Thank you for subscribing to my email list. This is an exciting new adventure for me.
I want to tell you why I love smoothies…
1. Quick and Convenient: Preparing a smoothie typically takes only a few minutes, making it an ideal choice for busy mornings. All you need is a blender and a few ingredients.
2. Nutrient-Dense: Smoothies can be packed with a variety of nutrient-rich ingredients like fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, greens and powders. This allows you to easily incorporate vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein into your diet.
3. Customizable: Smoothies can be tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences. You can adjust the ingredients to cater to specific nutritional goals, allergies or taste preferences.
4. Promotes Hydration: Smoothies often have a high water content, especially if they include ingredients like fruits and vegetables or are made with water or plant-milk, helping to keep you hydrated.
5. Digestive Health: Including fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, and seeds in your smoothies can aid digestion and promote gut health.
6. Balanced Macronutrients: A well-balanced smoothie can include a mix of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats, ensuring a sustained energy release throughout the morning.
7. Enhances Fruit and Vegetable Intake: Smoothies provide an easy way to increase your daily intake of fruits and vegetables, which are essential for overall health and can be challenging to consume in sufficient quantities otherwise.
8. Improved Mental Focus and Energy: Consuming a nutrient-dense smoothie in the morning can provide the necessary fuel for your brain, leading to better mental focus and sustained energy levels throughout the day.
9. Versatile and Fun: Experimenting with different ingredients and flavors can make smoothies an enjoyable and creative way to start your day, keeping breakfast interesting and varied.
My go-to smoothie (at the moment)
Frozen banana, ½ cup frozen blueberries or strawberries, soaked chia seeds (heaped tbsp), baby spinach, tbsp macadamia and cinnamon nut butter, tbsp cinnamon, 2 servings of collagen powder, water and then I add another powder (cocoa, spirulina, maca or ashwaganda). When I have frozen cauliflower or broccoli I will also add one head - not overdoing it at all. You can also add a date if you would like to add some more sweetness.
Please remember that a breakfast smoothie is not for everyone, I know some of you prefer a savoury breakfast – please do what works for you. Explore both and see what makes you feel your best. This journey is about you!
Tag me when you make it – I would love to see your go-to smoothie.
