Are Your Choices and Thoughts Driven by Comparison?
How many of our choices and thoughts are actually rooted in comparison - to a sibling, women online, or even moms at school?
Hi SF fam,
How many of our choices and thoughts are actually rooted in comparison - to a sibling, women online, or even moms at school?
If I’m honest, probably more than we’d like to admit. And I know we’re not alone.

“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others.” – Galatians 6:4 MSG
Oh, Instagram, Facebook, or whatever platform it is… it just makes comparison so easy, doesn’t it? One scroll and suddenly you feel like you’re not enough because someone else seems to be doing better. Or, if we’re honest, we sometimes feel a little puffed up because we think we’re doing better. Either way, comparison robs us of joy.
Romans 9:20–21 reminds us that God is the Potter and we are the clay. He made each of us uniquely - our bodies, our shapes, even our hormones. No two are the same.
And that’s why I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to health or diets. What works for her may not work for you. That’s not failure, that’s freedom. You don’t need to squeeze into someone else’s plan or someone else’s body type. You just need to honor the way God made you.
I love what Rick Warren says in The Purpose Driven Life: every athlete has their own lane. And the moment we stop looking left and right and simply run our own race—that’s where peace is.
So maybe today, let’s pause and ask:
How often are our bodies, choices, or thoughts shaped by comparison - and are we passing that on to our children without realizing it?
What would it look like to sink fully into the life and purpose God has given us?
Fam, your lane is yours. God created you with intention. Don’t let comparison pull you out of your race. Let your children see what it looks like to live free, grateful, and content.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You made me - my body, my mind, and my spirit - on purpose. Forgive me when my thoughts or choices are shaped by comparison instead of embracing who You created me to be. Help me to stay in my lane, to find joy in the work You’ve given me, and to show my children what freedom looks like. Keep my eyes on You, not on what everyone else is doing. Amen.

Take the next step in your journey:
If you’re ready to truly embrace your lane and create lasting change, I have a 3- and 6-month coaching program where I take your hand and walk the LIFESTYLE CHANGE journey with you.
